Chainsaw Man part 1 is over but part 2 is going strong and showing promise. In this article I’m going to cover what we know about Chainsaw Man’s timeline, what we know about part one’s end, and when part 2 may end.
The Chainsaw Man manga will likely end around 2024, after about 190 chapters or 22 Volumes of the physical manga. Chainsaw Man Part 1 ended in December 2020, and Part 2 started in 2022. There is no confirmed end date for Chainsaw Man Part 2, however we can assume it will last about as long as Part 1.
I won’t lie, we don’t have a true, definitive answer to this question and probably won’t for a couple of years. Part two of Chainsaw Man (anything after Volume 11 / Chapter 97) is going very strong at the moment and will likely carry us a couple more years. Then we have to wonder if Tatsuki Fujimoto will write a part 3, take the series in another direction, or just let it have a definitive ending. Chainsaw man has quickly turned into a classic, afterall, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see it get the Dragonball treatment.
More than likely, though, we will see Chainsaw Man come to an end eventually. Assassination Classroom had 21 volumes, and while the two manga are very different, I’d expect a similar number out of Chainsaw Man. If this ends up being the case, with a weekly release schedule (and occasionally biweekly), Chainsaw Man isn’t going to end until sometime in 2024.
The Chainsaw Man Manga is not over. Chainsaw Man currently has two parts. Part 1 of Chainsaw Man ended in December 2020 on the 97th chapter and the 11th Volume. Part 2 is still an ongoing series and will likely last about as long as Part 1 (2 years), meaning it should end sometime during 2024 or later.
Chainsaw Man was basically broken down into two parts and part one ended on Volume 11 of the manga (or Chapter 97.) Many fans consider this the end of Chainsaw Man, and everything after is Chainsaw Man part 2. It really comes down to your preference how you see chapter 98 and beyond. Chainsaw Man part one ends in a way where you can just let the story end there and be happy.
Personally I considered the entirety of Chainsaw Man to be one story. So for me, the manga is 100% not over and won’t be until they completely stop making Chainsaw Man manga, or they start releasing the manga under a different name (similar to Dragon Ball vs Dragon Ball Z.) With that being said, you can stop at Volume 11 and have a complete story, so if you want to consider the end of Chainsaw Man, you have every right to!
The Chainsaw Man anime is over for now. Season 1 of the Chainsaw Man anime had its final episode aired on December 27th, 2022 and Season 2 has yet to be confirmed. However, the anime has not caught up with the manga, so it is extremely likely that the Chainsaw Man anime will be back for a second season.
While there’s no official release date for season two of the Chainsaw Man anime, I’m more than willing to hold my breath. Season one of the anime is extremely popular and doesn’t even cover the entirety of Chainsaw Man part one in the manga. In fact, it covers about half of part one, which makes me believe season two will come out eventually and show us the second half of Chainsaw Man part one in anime form.
Of course, many great anime have been canceled or postponed indefinitely, so I’ll knock on wood until we actually see season 2 on our screens. However, there’s a much higher chance that season 2 will happen than season 2 not happening.
The Chainsaw Man manga comes out weekly. Every week on Tuesday, a new chapter of the Chainsaw Man manga is released online via the Viz website, app, and the Shonen Jump app. Occasionally, the Chainsaw man manga will skip a week and conform to a biweekly schedule instead, but for the most part it is weekly.
Right now Chainsaw Man releases every week on Tuesday and you can read the newest three chapters for free if you download the Shonen Jump or Viz Manga app. Which app you download doesn’t matter too much, but there are some slight differences. While you can read the newest three chapters for free, you’re going to need a Viz / Shonen Jump subscription to read more than that. The subscription is quite worth the few bucks per month it costs, though.
New Volumes of Chainsaw Man are usually released about three months apart from each other, however since part two has started there has been a hiatus. Once the volumes start releasing again, we’ll see what the Volume release schedule looks like, but it will probably be three months once again (unless it takes the road of Spy Family and switches it up to six months.)
Chainsaw Man is 11 Volumes long (or 97 Chapters.) The 11th volume is the conclusion of Chainsaw Man Part 1. While there is a Chainsaw Man Part 2, the series is set up in a way that allows readers to stop reading after finishing Part 1, and many fans consider Part 1 and Part 2 two different stories.
We can’t say how long Chainsaw Man is, in total, yet since it is still releasing and shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. Part 2 is likely to break 180 chapters, if it is anywhere near as long as Part 1 was. Even then, for all we know, there could be a Part 3 planned after Part 2, so everything at this point is wild speculation (which I’m the best at.)
With that being said, a lot of fans actually consider Part 1 of Chainsaw Man (Volumes 1 - 11 or Chapters 1 - 97) to be a full story, so we can technically say Chainsaw Man is 97 Chapters long. In all reality, though, we’re going to have to wait and see.
The Chainsaw Man anime is 12 episodes long. There is only one season of the anime, however that season only covers about half of Chainsaw Man’s first part. In all likelihood, there will be a Season 2 of the Chainsaw Man anime that covers the second half of the first part of Chainsaw Man. If that is successful, I’d also assume (and hope) there will be more seasons to cover Volume 12+ of Chainsaw Man.
Chainsaw Man ends with Denji defeating Makima and then adopting Nayuta, the “reborn control devil.” However, Nayuta has no memories from Makima, so she is just an innocent girl. Part 1 of Chainsaw Man ends with Denji talking with Pochita in a dream, then deciding to raise Nayuta as his daughter.
Keep in mind this is just the ending of Part 1 and since Part 2 of Chainsaw Man is currently being released, we won’t actually know how Chainsaw Man ends for another year or two (most likely.) With that being said, many readers consider Part 1 of Chainsaw Man to be an entire story, so we can take the ending of Volume 11 (or Chapter 97) as an end to Chainsaw Man and treat Part 2 as its own story.
Of course, Part 2 is released under the Chainsaw Man name and doesn’t have its own distinct series name (like Dragon Ball vs Dragon Ball Z), so it’s alright if you don’t want to consider Part 1 the end. As of now, though, that is the only ending we have to Chainsaw Man, and we won’t be able to say how the entire series ends for quite some time.
I hope this article was able to answer your Chainsaw Man questions. While the manga is still releasing and doesn’t have a true, definitive end yet, there is a lot we can infer about when the manga may end and whether or not it will end anytime soon (hopefully, and most likely, it will not!)
